1987 Corvette Convertable (page-3) |
The next problem was locating the radio front-panel. I also wanted to mount an XM radio receiver, so I needed some space for the pair. Pro-Fit makes some nice brackets that work perfectly in my other vehicles, but they don't make one for the Corvette. I ended up making my own bracket from the same steel stock used for the radio body mount. The bracket fastens to the side of the center console through the carpet. The holes are under the dash trim plate however. The bracket is bent under the trim pieces. If the bracket is removed, the holes will be hidden. Having used similar brackets before, I know how frustrating it can be to get nuts behind the bracket, so I also fabricated an aluminum plate with holes pre-drilled and tapped for mounting fasteners. |
